New Video: 'Omer'!
Hey my dear not-so-extended family!!
Here we are with video no. 4 - Omer. This is one of the first instrumental compositions I’ve ever written. Growing up as a performer, I didn’t think I’ve got what it takes to write music - I figured that composing comes naturally to some people, and others just don’t have that ability. One day, I remember thinking I’d just experiment with the idea - “If I was a composer, what would I write?”. This was still too broad of a question, I had to narrow it down. At the time I used to listen to a phenomenal pianist and composer, and a friend of mine from back in the day - Omer Klein. I thought to myself - “what would I write if I was him?”
That thought sparked a whole composition which (unlike many of my other compositions) came so effortlessly. I think this idea helped me feel confident, inspired, and to be able to detach myself from the way I perceived my ability. This experiment also taught me that listening to music you love is an essential part of the creative process.
I’m so glad I found a path to unlock what became over the years perhaps my biggest passion, apart from the recorder. It truly opened up a gate to a different, profound way of experiencing music.
